Ajinomoto Fine-Techno’s activated carbon business started from the development and commercialization of activated carbon as a raw material essential in the refining process of Ajinomoto’s amino acids. Today, it is widely used for refinement of amino acids as well as food, medicines, and chemicals, and purifying wastewater and exhaust gases to conserve the environment. Recently, we are actively expanding our business to gain customers’ satisfaction by developing products to meet each user’s needs while seeking new application fields for our products.

  • Powdered activated carbon

    Ajinomoto Fine-Techno‘s powdered activated carbon, made from sawdust, is mainly used to refine general foods and medicines. We also supply carbon primarily made from coconut shells and coal, which is used to treat water and sewerage, industrial wastewater, and dioxins.
  • Liquid-phase activated carbon

    Ajinomoto Fine-Techno‘s liquid-phase activated carbon is used to treat water, sewerage, and discharged water, and to purify many types of liquids. It is used in many chemical factories and food factories. We have many other unique products, such as high-performance decolorizers, which are renewable through chemical agents, and products that are very effective at eliminating colloid molecules, a function that activated carbons in general aren’t very good at.
  • Gas-phase activated carbon

    Ajinomoto Fine-Techno‘s gas-phase activated carbon is primarily used for deodorization at many chemical and food factories. Some of our products are specially processed and exclusively designed for ammonia, and other compounds that activated carbons don’t generally interact well with.
  • Chelate resin

    Ajinomoto Fine-Techno‘s chelate resin consists of porous polymer beads with a chelate linking group. Unaffected by the effects of interfering ions, they selectively adsorb specific heavy metals.
  • Adsorption resin

    Ajinomoto Fine-Techno‘s adsorption resin, like activated carbon, consists of porous adsorbents that are mainly designed for physical adsorption. With a phenol-formaldehyde resin as its main component, functional groups—namely, the amino group and phenolic hydroxyl—coexist with each other. This induces ion exchanges by the functional group in acid and neutral areas, in addition to physical adsorption.
  • Aldeo aldehyde adsorbent

    Aldeo , an aldehyde adsorbent, can efficiently adsorb and eliminate low-grade aldehyde through a chemical reaction by impregnating activated carbon with special agents. Along with its unique adsorption performance, the product is also very safe and easy to store.
The Ajinomoto fine-techno are a company which bears the core of the fine-chemicals enterprise of Ajinomoto groups including insulating material "Ajinomoto Build-up Film"(ABF).
